# Is Kiln safe.

Yes — with one rule: download only from this site. The installer holds the emulator and launcher, nothing else.

## Facts (2026-10-13)

- **Price:** Free, no accounts
- **Installer:** Emulator + launcher only
- **Bundles:** None — no firmware, no games
- **Source:** This site only

## Yes, with one rule

Kiln is a PlayStation 5 emulator for Windows PC distributed as one free Windows installer. The installer contains the emulator and the launcher — no firmware, no games, no toolbars, no miners, no nonsense.

The rule: download only from this site. Mirrors offering Kiln plus firmware, Kiln plus games, or Kiln plus anything are repacks. Repacks are where malware lives.

## Why Windows flags new EXEs

SmartScreen flags unfamiliar setup files routinely. That is Windows doing its job, not a verdict on Kiln.

Checklist: downloaded from this site, file runs the Kiln setup, installer asks for nothing weird. If a download asks for passwords, crypto, or surveys, delete it — that was never Kiln.

## What Kiln never asks for

No accounts, no keys, no console modding, no personal files. Firmware comes from Sony's page by your hand; games are the ones you already own.

If anything calling itself Kiln asks otherwise, it is not Kiln. See [do I need the games](/pulse/do-i-need-ps5-games) for the ownership rule.

## FAQ

### Is Kiln safe to download?

Yes — download the free Windows installer from this site only. Avoid mirrors and repacks offering bundled firmware or games.

### Is Kiln really free?

Yes. Free installer, no accounts, no subscriptions, no locked features.

### Why did SmartScreen warn me?

SmartScreen flags unfamiliar EXEs by default. Confirm you downloaded from this site and proceed.
