Kiln is a PlayStation 5 emulator for Windows PC. The installer is the product. Everything else is how you get a game you already own onto the screen.
Install Firmware reads the official PS5UPDATE.PUP from Sony. Boot system software brings up the PS5 home with the games you already have. Kiln ships neither.
The renderer targets Vulkan 1.3. Install a current NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel driver. On a dual-GPU PC, select the device in the launcher.
DualSense first, Xbox controllers too, and a keyboard map when the pad is across the room. Plug in before you launch. Haptics show up only on titles and builds that have them.
One download for Windows 10 or 11 on an x86-64 PC. If SmartScreen warns on an unsigned build, that warning is Windows being Windows.
The machine it runs on
Three things do the work: an x86-64 Windows PC with a Vulkan 1.3 GPU, a pad in your hands, and a screen in front of you. Kiln launches PlayStation 5 games you already own.

An x86-64 PC running Windows 10 or 11, with a Vulkan 1.3 GPU and a current driver. Vulkan 1.3 is the renderer baseline. A title can still need a device feature the card does not expose. Update every GPU driver in the PC, including integrated graphics.
DualSense is the main pad: sticks, triggers, and face buttons are mapped. Xbox controllers work too, and the keyboard can be mapped onto the same controls. Connect the pad before you start the game. Adaptive triggers, the touchpad, and gyro are not guaranteed on every title.
The Kiln build, the firmware version you installed, Windows version, GPU, driver version, the pad you used, the game you already own, and what you saw: nothing, a boot, menus, or gameplay. That is how a title moves from Test to Beta to Stable.
