The two questions everyone asks, answered without hedging: safety and games.
Is Kiln safe.
Yes — with one rule: download only from this site. The installer holds the emulator and launcher, nothing else.

Yes, with one rule
Kiln is a PlayStation 5 emulator for Windows PC distributed as one free Windows installer. The installer contains the emulator and the launcher — no firmware, no games, no toolbars, no miners, no nonsense.
The rule: download only from this site. Mirrors offering Kiln plus firmware, Kiln plus games, or Kiln plus anything are repacks. Repacks are where malware lives.
Why Windows flags new EXEs
SmartScreen flags unfamiliar setup files routinely. That is Windows doing its job, not a verdict on Kiln.
Checklist: downloaded from this site, file runs the Kiln setup, installer asks for nothing weird. If a download asks for passwords, crypto, or surveys, delete it — that was never Kiln.
What Kiln never asks for
No accounts, no keys, no console modding, no personal files. Firmware comes from Sony's page by your hand; games are the ones you already own.
If anything calling itself Kiln asks otherwise, it is not Kiln. See do I need the games for the ownership rule.
